My name is Panayotis Vryonis and I live in Athens, Greece. I’m interested in anything related to the Internet, Open Source Software and Social Media.
I’m active advocate of Open Source Software, and one of the founding members of the Hellenic Linux Users Group in 1998. I’m one one of the first Greek bloggers and probably the first greek podcaster (my first show went live on January 2005). Back in 2005-2006, I was kinda’ famous for my pet project called “monitor.vrypan.net”, a greek blog aggregator that played a key role in the early days of the Greek blogosphere.
In 1999 I co-founded and held the position of CTO at e-Go Travel Ltd, a company providing on-line travel services for Greek destinations. In 2001 I joined the leading Greek interactive marketing agency, yellownetroad and after the merger of the two companies, became Chief Developer at OgilvyOne Worldwide Athens.
In 2007, I was invited by the opposition leader, Mr. George Papandreou to work as social media consultant for PASOK (the, then, major opposition party in Greece). From January 2010 (PASOK won the majority in the 2009 elections) to November 2010, I worked at the office of the Prime Minister of Greece.
Since January 2011, I’m the 360 Digital Influence Director at assetOgilvy (Athens, Greece).
I’m a member of the board of directors of OPAP S.A.
I’m also proud to be on the OpenFund Board of Advisors.
Some old pet projects:
, a project based on Google Web APIs, long before Google Trends appeared
-it’s down now
, an open source feed aggregator in PHP- some examples in PHP on how to use FeedBurner APIs
