Well, hell, I guess next thing you know, the International Bonesetters' Association will be issuing cease and desists to podcasters, requesting removal of the term 'CAST'!
While trendsetting on design and UI issues, Apple is living in the Dark Ages, where consumer rights are concerned (they really are worse than Microsoft, on that front!), and has been making that mistake (ie. attacking IT prosumers and it's own customers), in one form or another, for years. I only hope they'll get their comeuppance one of these days, as Sony did with the DRM case, and this looks like the perfect opportunity.

Daniel: "research"? No. Just some thoughts.
Regarding the iTS-podcast relation, you are kidding, right? Apple introduced podcast support in iTS and iTunes when podcasting was already a booming phenomenon.

Most of the podcasts I listen to are not listed in iTS . Or maybe they are, but who cares? I subscribe to them directly, or using other "platforms" like podshow.com.

It's sad.. Get yourself up to date or stop working on an advertising agency..

This so called research and it's conclusions are.. just funny.

NO Apple will not make their brand go boom and die, neither will the iPod suffer.

Since almost every podcast on the net goes through iTS why do you think people will run for their lives just for Apple is taking control of the podcast trademark?

I agree with you. On the other hand, though, business realities (a.k.a. trademark protection) are not to be taken lightly. Reminds me To google or not to google? What's in a name?"
